Stories of courage — an exhibition about Azov fighters
An exhibition "Azov. Angels of Mariupol" dedicated to the fighters of the separate special purpose unit Azov was opened in Lviv on the Mariupol Reborn platform. The exposition includes about 250 portraits of Ukrainian defenders.
This was reported by a correspondent of Novyny.LIVE.
Exhibition in memory of the Azov Heroes
The author and organizer of the exhibition is Vira Lytvynenko, the mother of soldier Vladyslav Lytvynenko, who goes by the call sign Vector. She told Novyny.LIVE that she began collecting materials for the exhibition in 2022.
"This is an unrelenting pain. I wanted to do something for my son, for his comrades, to be remembered, to be known. They all wanted to travel the world, to build Ukraine. Now this is how they travel. This is the 15th city they have visited," says Lytvynenko.
Relatives of the fallen heroes came to the opening of the exhibition. Svitlana, the mother of defender Vladyslav Horoshko, told Novyny.LIVE that her son consciously joined Azov.
"They are not ordinary guys, they are steel. They knew what they were fighting for and stood until their last breath. My son stayed in touch until March 2, and although it was very difficult for him, he supported me, saying that everything would be fine," Svitlana says.
Tetiana, the mother of Azov soldier Oleksandr Kuzmenko, told NovynyLIVE that her son first served in Zaporizhzhia, and a year before the full-scale invasion, he had been transferred to the Mariupol unit. They last spoke on February 28, 2022.
"On March 4, it was his birthday, he was turning 26. And on March 10, I received a call in the evening and was told that it was on March 4 that my son died. But every day I still have some hope in my heart," emphasizes Tetiana.
By the way, this is the 15th exhibition presented in Ukraine. According to the organizers, it will be a powerful reminder that behind every victory there is strength of spirit, self-sacrifice, and love for motherland.
