The mayor of Lviv Andrii Sadovyi has presented an application for the city of Lviv to become the European Capital of Culture 2030. He emphasized that culture is a priority in the development of the city.

Sadovyi published the statement on his Facebook page on Thursday, October 17.

European Capital of Culture 2030

"I am holding the official application of Lviv for the status of the European Capital of Culture 2030. This is our vision of the city's development and confirmation that culture is our priority," said Sadovyi.

According to Sadovyi, Lviv is the first Ukrainian city to compete for this title. He added that more than 100 Lviv cultural figures, including war veterans, worked on the application.

"This is a new reality not only for Ukraine, but for the whole world," Sadovyi said.

The mayor also added that details will be made public later. The application has now been sent to the relevant European authorities.

Previously, as stated by Lviv Mayor Andrii Sadovyi, a Lviv developer is contesting the historical and architectural plan of the city in court, which regulates all construction rules. When this plan is in place, the process becomes more complicated for the developer, as it significantly restricts the number of floors allowed.

Earlier, Novyny.LIVE wrote that in Lviv, the developer New Trading Lviv plans to build a 25-storey building on the site of the architectural heritage.
